Renewing Me

Feeling beaten down and completely lost,

Trying to find my way back at any cost.

Thought I was ahead of the game and had it all figured out,

Only to discover it was not what I thought it was about.

My face in the dirt, down and crying,

I will not allow myself to stay down too long,

Because my heart and soul are starting to sing my fight song.

I have a renewed spirit filled with flourishing hope,

Determined to climb back up from the bottom of my rope.

Discovering the strength buried deep within me,

I'm coming back stronger and setting myself free.

Learning to walk with confidence and a louder voice,

Speaking out not on what you demand but what is my choice.

I am breaking free from all the chains so many have made me bear,

Trying to control who I am but not any more because I don’t care.

I’m learning to be proud of who I am and if you don’t like it

Then you can go somewhere else to have your screaming fit.

I am all I want to be,

As I have learned I am worthy, and I belong,

I am finally independent and I am strong!
